Cubs News: Javy Baez favorite to win 2018 NL MVP |
It seems like El Mago is hitting a crucial homer every game for the Cubs lately as they try to scratch and claw their way into the playoffs this season.
Bovada released their latest National League MVP odds on Wednesday and had Javy Baez as the frontrunner for the prestigious award. Baez had 10/11 odds to win it all followed by Matt Carpenter (5/2), Nolan Arenado (5/2), Paul Goldschmidt (5/1), and Christian Yelich (6/1). Baez has been impressive this season with a .295 batting average with 37 doubles, 9 triples, 33 homers, 21 stolen bases, and NL-leading 107 RBI. His teammate Albert Almora Jr. was interviewed on 670 The Score on Wednesday and said the following about Baez's MVP chances. "There are really good players out there, but I've been spoiled to watch Javy day in and day out ... To me, it's a no-brainer," he said.
