Cubs News: Kris Bryant injury update |
Not ideal news to report tonight for Cubs fans.
Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is out of Tuesday night's game against the Reds with a left elbow issue that is giving him some discomfort according to reports. Cubs manager David Ross said that the elbow is getting sore on his full swing extension. Bryant is currently day-to-day as Ross updated his injury during the media zoom session on Tuesday. "KB is dealing with a few little bumps and bruises, a little elbow thing. I just wanted to make sure we stayed on top of it immediately and doesn't come a bigger issue. "He’s not too concerned. Long game last night, long travel day. He’s been dealing with a lot of little things." Bryant won't be going through any tests but getting treatment from the medical staff and likely not to be available to pinch-hit tonight. David Bote is replacing him at third base and the greatest leadoff hitter of all-time Anthony Rizzo will leadoff tonight. Probably a good idea resting that elbow and getting a day off after his poor offensive start to the season. This might be want he needs to get back on track soon. In other injury news, pitcher Jose Quintana is scheduled for a bullpen session on Wednesday which will be the first time he will throw off the mound since his thumb surgery. Ross: Training staff also not overly concerned about Bryant's elbow issue. No additional testing deemed necessary yet. Just treatment behind scenes.
