by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs announced a few injury updates during the pregame of Saturday night's game against the Seattle Mariners.

Cubs ace Justin Steele has been rehabbing his hamstring injury and is scheduled for a bullpen today which is excellent news.

Steele is expected to return at some point in May.

Veteran pitcher Jameson Taillon threw 3.2 innings scoreless, allowing three hits and striking out four batters for Iowa on Friday. The pitch count was 68 pitches.

Taillon felt great after the start (previous back injury). He will meet the team in Arizona to make his next start with the Cubs according to Cubs manager Craig Counsell.

He was placed on the 15-day IL on March 28 (retroactive to March 25).

Cubs pitching prospect Kohl Frankling left Saturday's game with forearm discomfort. After an MRI, they will have more information on his injury.
