Cubs predicted to win NL Central in 2017

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs won their first World Series title since 1908, and it appears that they are projected to win the National League Central in 2017 according to USA Today Sports.

"There’s no question that the Cubs are still the best team in the MLB," USA Today said. "Without a doubt, they will be the favorites to repeat once again in 2017. They lost Dexter Fowler and Aroldis Chapman to free agency but did a nice job of replacing with Wade Davis and a promotion of Albert Almora Jr., respectively."

The Cubs should have a contending team for years to come since several members of their young core are not free agents until 2021.

"Their young core is still in place, and the rotation was the best in the MLB last season," MLB said. "Theo Epstein did as close to a perfect job of architecting this team as he could have. With the talent and potential of this team, they should be good for years to come."

Projected Standings in 2017

Chicago Cubs

St. Louis Cardinals

Pittsburg Pirates

Milwaukee Brewers

Cincinnati Reds
