Cubs recall Floro, option LHP to Triple-A |
The Chicago Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Dylan Floro from Triple-A Iowa. Left-handed pitcher Jack Leathersich has been optioned to Triple-A.
Floro will be available for the Cubs today when they begin their three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field. The 26-year-old Floro returns for his fifth stint with the Cubs this season. He has made two relief appearances during his previous stays with the club, posting no record and an 8.53 ERA (6 ER/6.1 IP). He allowed one earned run in 4.1 innings on May 9 in Colorado before being charged with five runs in 2.0 innings on May 21 in closing out a 13-6 win vs. Milwaukee. With Iowa this year, Floro has gone 2-1 with one save and a 3.00 ERA (13 ER/39.0 IP) in 21 appearances – 19 in relief and two as a starter. Leathersich, 26, allowed two runs on one hit and four walks with one strikeout in 0.2 innings yesterday vs. Milwaukee, his lone big league appearance this season. He has gone 0-2 with a 4.56 ERA (13 ER/25.2 IP) in 22 relief outings with Iowa this season, including a 0.64 ERA (1 ER/14.0 IP) his last 10 times out.
