Cubs recall veteran reliever, send down RHP |
SAN DIEGO – The Chicago Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Justin Grimm from Triple-A Iowa. Right-handed pitcher Felix Peña has been optioned to Triple-A.
Grimm will be available for the Cubs this afternoon as they begin their three-game series against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. The 28-year-old Grimm joins the Cubs for his third stint this season. He has gone 1-0 with a 7.53 ERA (12 ER/14.1 IP) in 13 relief outings with the Cubs this season. He was last optioned to Iowa on May 10 and has gone 0-1 with three saves and a 5.40 ERA (4 ER/6.2 IP) in six relief appearances in Triple-A. Peña, 27, has posted no record with a 3.38 ERA (3 ER/8.0 IP) in four relief outings with the Cubs this season.
