Game Highlights: Cubs collect 20 hits in blowout win over A's

Chicago Cubs outfielder Patrick Wisdom had a two-homer game and Hayden Wesneski recorded seven quality innings during Monday night's 10-1 blowout victory over the Oakland Athletics.

"This is definitely a start you can build on," Wesneski said during postgame. "You see the results, but it's just one of those things where the other four days, you have to figure out what you want to work on and what works for you."

The Cubs have won 8 out of their last 11 contests.

"We're rolling," Bellinger said. "Up and down through our lineup, there's not a weak spot. … I think we saw it in Spring Training, and now that we're all coming together every day … we're having a good time."

With the 4-0 win, the Cubs picked up their third shutout of the season and have recorded at least three shutouts within the first 16 games for the fourth time in the last 50 seasons dating to 1974. The other instances were 2019 (3 SHO), 2016 (3 SHO) and 1985 (3 SHO).

Last night's victory was the team's 10th of the season, the first time the club has won at least 10 of it's first 16 games since 2020 and for the seventh time since 2001 (also 2020, 13; 2016, 12; 2008, 10; 2004, 10; 2003, 10; and 2001, 11).
