by - Senior Editor -

Baseball is back!

Well, baseball of the spring training variety.

Cubs manager David Ross announced the lineup for Monday afternoon's game (2:05 pm CT, no TV) against the San Diego Padres at Peoria Park.

Here you go:

1. Anthony Rizzo 1B

2. Willson Contreras C

3. Joc Pederson LF

4. Javier Báez SS

5. Cameron Maybin RF

6. David Bote 2B

7. Ildemaro Vargas 3B

8. Ian Miller CF

9. P.J. Higgins DH

Cubs veteran pitcher Kyle Hendricks will get the start and that should line him up for an Opening Day start.

Hendricks was 6-5 with a 2.88 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 12 starts last season.

Cubs relievers that are available to pitch today include Shelby Miller, Tyson Miller, Joe Biagini, Rex Brothers, Brendon Little and Trevor Megill.

Padres Lineup will be the following:

Pham DH

Hosmer 1B Kim SS

Caratini C

Tanielu 3B

Mateo CF

Abrams 2B

Hassell RF

Marcano LF

The Sloan Park opener will be televised (Marquee Sports Network) as Adbert Alzolay will get the start on Tuesday.

In other spring training news, the Cubs games will last seven innings unless they are games on ESPN, and then they will go the normal nine innings.

After March 14, the regular nine innings will be regular again instead of the shortened seven-innings.
