WATCH: Anthony Rizzo goes yard for his 500th career extra-base hit |
CHICAGO — Going yard for the second time this season, Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo smacked the Cubs' second home run of the bottom of the eighth on Sunday. With former Cubs reliever Justin Grimm pitching for the Milwaukee Brewers, Rizzo swatted a solo bomb for his 500th career extra-base hit.
The dinger hit out to left at Wrigley Field carried 385 feet, boasting plenty of elevation as it caromed off the bat. It marked the final run of the afternoon in the Cubs' 9-1 thrashing of the Brewers. Cubs center fielder Ian Happ powered out a two-run jack earlier in the frame.
