CHICAGO — Through just six big-league games, Chicago Cubs shortstop Nico Hoerner has already amassed 11 RBI and established himself as a legitimate asset of the Cubs' stretch run. The 22-year-old Hoerner was called up from Double-A on Monday due to injury issues plaguing the Cubs' infield, and the top prospect has wasted no time in making an impact.

Hoerner skied a 3-run home run in the Cubs' 14-1 win versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, and members of his family were on hand at Wrigley Field to see it. NBC Sports Chicago reporter Kelly Crull spoke with Keila Diehl, Hoerner's mother, in the stands about what Hoerner's unexpectedly early transition from the minor leagues to the big leagues has been like.
