WATCH: Yan Gomes smacks go-ahead hit against Twins |
Chicago Cubs catcher Yan Gomes is making fans forget about Willson Contreras completely.
During Friday night's game against the Minnesota Twins, Gomes smacked a go-ahead single in the seventh inning to put the Cubs up 3-2. Entering the game, Gomes had a .324 average with six homers, 15 RBIs, and .939 OPS. Just an impressive season so far by the veteran catcher that is turning into a fan favorite. Twitter reactions: Yan Gomes likes to downplay the offensive side of his game, considering it a bonus to his defensive work/game calling. But he's been doing it all the first six weeks of season.
