Chicago Cubs announce special jerseys for five heritage celebrations

Cubs Media Relations -

CHICAGO – Joining the Chicago Cubs promotional calendar for the 2025 regular season will be five heritage celebrations featuring collaborations with local Chicago artists on one-of-a-kind giveaway jerseys. Starting in May, the Cubs will celebrate the unique and vibrant culture and heritage of individuals from Mexico, Puerto Rico and Greece with dedicated Special Ticket Offers while hosting two Theme Games in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month. Each event will feature a special-edition jersey fans can purchase designed by the local artist.

“After a successful first year, we are bringing back some of our heritage celebrations, but with a twist,” said Cubs Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jen Martindale. “These one-of-a-kind jerseys pay homage to the artist’s heritage while celebrating the incredible diversity of our great city. Make sure to purchase a ticket through the Special Ticket Offer to receive the special-edition jersey.”

To celebrate Mexican heritage, the Cubs collaborated with Mexican-American and Pilsen-based street artist, Joseph Perez, also known as Sentrock, who gathered inspiration for his design from the patterns and symbolism of Mexican identity and culture, including the Mexican flag, traditional serapes and indigenous-inspired design patterns. Muralist Cristian J. Roldán Aponte was tapped to design a jersey for the Puerto Rican heritage Special Ticket Offer which features “fractal” designs and indigenous petroglyphs known across the island.

For the AAPI Heritage Month Celebration, the Cubs enlisted visual artist and Filipino-American Louis De Guzman to create a jersey that pays homage to the strength and resilience of immigrants who broke cultural boundaries and traveled “off the beaten path” to create a new life for themselves.

"I am honored to represent the AAPI community through the lens of art and design alongside the Chicago Cubs,” said De Guzman. “Looking forward to being back at the Friendly Confines this season."

The Greek heritage jersey was designed by Theodora Pavlou, merging elements of Greek mythology with baseball design elements. Painter and muralist Liz Flores created the jersey for the annual Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month Celebration, featuring Latino-inspired design elements and the iconic Wrigley Field ivy.
