Roster Move: Cubs recall Pete Crow-Armstrong, option infielder

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today announced that they have recalled outfielder Peter Crow-Armstrong from Triple-A Iowa and optioned infielder Luis Vázquez to Triple-A Iowa.

Crow-Armstrong, 22, returns to the Cubs for his second stint this season as he posted a .236 (13-for-55) batting average with two doubles, one triple, one home run and five stolen bases in 23 games with the Cubs. He recorded his first career hit, a two-run homer against Houston, on April 25 in his first start of the season. In 26 games with Iowa this season, Crow-Armstrong is hitting .255 (22-for-110) with five home runs and 14 RBI. In his last seven games with Iowa—since he was optioned on May 20—he is hitting .387 (12-for-31) with three home runs and seven RBI.

Vázquez, 24, earned his first major league call-up and appeared in two games for the Cubs, scoring one run. He is hitting .262 (37-for-141) with 10 doubles, three home runs, 11 RBI and a .360 OBP in 39 games with Iowa this season.

The Cubs close out their road trip today at Milwaukee against the Cubs at 12:10 p.m. CT in a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 The Score and WRTO 1200.
