WATCH: Ian Happ lofts towering moonshot that lands in Wrigley Field basket |
CHICAGO — With a high drive that landed in the basket atop the Wrigley Field wall, Chicago Cubs center fielder Ian Happ provided the North Siders with an insurance run on Tuesday. Happ's fourth homer of the season, the solo shot to left-center led off the bottom of the eighth and gave the Cubs a 6-3 lead over the Washington Nationals.
Former Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber was helpless on the warning track as the ball descended above him and landed in the basket. The moonshot, which left the bat at 103.1 mph, boasted a steep launch angle of 39 degrees. Nationals reliever Wander Suero gave up the 369-footer on an 84.6-mph changeup. .@ihapp_1 plays basket ball.#CubTogether pic.twitter.com/bUpWFHD3vm #Nationals 3 @ #Cubs 6 [B8-0o]:
