Bears make several roster moves |
The Chicago Bears announced on Saturday a few roster moves ahead of Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
They have activated third-string quarterback Nathan Peterman since Justin Fields is questionable for the contest with his shoulder injury. Peterman signed with the Bears on May 11 and has spent the first 11 weeks of the season on the practice squad. Nathan Peterman could be the starting quarterback if Fields is still not ready to go. The team also added linebacker DeMarquis Gates and running back Darrynton Evans to the 53-man active roster from the practice team. Evans has appeared in two games this season and will help out the running back room after the loss of Khalil Herbert, who is on the injured reserve with a hip injury. Gates signed with the Bears on August 6 and has yet to appear in an NFL game. In addition to those moves, the team released cornerback Lamar Jackson.
