Cubs News: Justin Fields injury update |
Chicago Bears franchise quarterback Justin Fields has a left shoulder injury that he suffered during Sunday's loss to the Falcons.
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters on Wednesday that Fields remains 'day to day' with his injury. Since the team has walk-thrus today, Fields has been cleared for practice but will be limited. "We'll see where it goes today," Eberflus said. "We'll see where it goes, and then when we get to tomorrow we'll know more, and I think by Friday we'll know [even] more. It's kind of one of those things; you work through the week and we'll see where it is and hopefully we're getting better and better every single day." However, the team will not put Fields in danger of playing injured. "If we ever feel that a player is going to go out there and harm himself, obviously, we’re going to err on the side of caution, for sure," Eberflus said. "We’re not going to put a guy out there in harm's way and he doesn’t feel good about it for sure. We want to do what’s best for the organization but also what’s best for the player." Fields has passed for 1,642 yards with 13 touchdowns and eight passing touchdowns with a QBR of 54.8. He also 122 rushes for 834 yards and seven scores. The Bears have not made a decision yet if Fields will play Sunday, but the Jets made a bold move benching Zach Wilson for Mike White. If Fields can't make it, the Bears will start Trevor Siemian. Currently, the Jets are -4.5 point favorites over the Bears for Sunday's game at noon CT at MetLife Stadium.
