WATCH: Cordarrelle Patterson ties NFL record with 104-yard kickoff return touchdown |
CHICAGO — Chicago Bears return man Cordarrelle Patterson returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown on Monday night, tying an NFL record for the most career kick return touchdowns. A former Minnesota Viking, Patterson put the Bears up 13-7 over the Vikings in the Week 10 matchup as a result of his 104-yard return at Soldier Field, which served as his eighth career kickoff return to the house.
Former return specialists Josh Cribbs and Leon Washington are the only other players to run back eight kickoffs. Even former Bear Devin Hester, who holds the NFL record for punt return touchdowns, did not match that total in his great career. Patterson "threw up the deuces" by flashing the peace sign while he cruised into the end zone against his old club, as he faced practically no threat of getting tackled once he passed midfield. .@ceeflashpee84 SAID ??!! 13-7 thanks to ??...#MINvsCHI | #DaBears pic.twitter.com/xufAsDRFdc
