Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman to make 2024 Opening Day roster |
The 'Summer of Tauchman 2.0' will happen in 2024.
Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell announced to reporters on Saturday afternoon that veteran outfielder Mike Tauchman will be included in the 26-man squad to start the 2024 season. Counsell mentioned that he had informed Tauchman of his place on the team since the beginning of spring training. In 2023, Tauchman hit .252 with 8 homers and 48 RBIs. "Clarity is always a good thing," Tauchman said. "Probably everybody in the room could tell you a story of a time they kind of got jerked around a little bit in a conversation or were given partial truths or a wishy-washy conversation. Everybody has a story like that and experienced that in this game. So all we really want is honesty." Hailing from Palatine, IL, the 33-year-old Tauchman is a local product poised to make his mark again with the Cubs.
