Bears standout reportedly to opt out of 2020 season

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Bears defensive tackle Eddie Goldman will opt-out of the NFL 2020 season because of health concerns, according to multiple reports on Tuesday.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport had the first report about Goldman's situation.

"Bears standout DT Eddie Goldman has informed the team he plans to opt out due to health concerns related to COVID-19," he posted on social media. "Goldman has been a standout in the middle of Chicago’s D since 2015."

Financially, the Bears will get $4.85 million in cap space credit which will add up to $16 million in cap space in 2020.

This had to be a tough decision for Goldman has he is only 26-years-old and in the prime of his professional career.

The Bears still have Akiem Hicks, Roy Robertson-Harris, John Jenkins, Lee Autry, and Bilal Nichols at the defensive tackle position but obviously this hurts a lot as it takes away one of their most dependable defensive players.
