Cubs activate Kyle Ryan, option reliever |
PHILADELPHIA – The Chicago Cubs today activated left-handed pitcher Kyle Ryan off of the bereavement list. Right-handed pitcher Dillon Maples has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa. Ryan will be available for the Cubs tonight when they begin their three-game series at the Philadelphia Phillies.
Ryan, 27, is 3-1 with a 2.80 ERA (14 ER/45.0 IP) in 52 relief outings with the Cubs this year. He has not allowed an earned run in each of his last nine outings, covering 10.2 innings pitched. Maples, 27, is 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA (7 ER/9.1 IP) in 11 relief outings with the Cubs this season. With Iowa, he has gone 3-4 with four saves and a 4.72 ERA (18 ER/34.1 IP) in 30 appearances.
