Cubs fan wears enormous bedazzled World Series ring on his head while in stands

CHICAGO — Fans of championship teams never receive officially licensed championship rings, no matter how die-hard they are. But one Chicago Cubs fan took matters into his own hands by creating a ring of his own that is quite the attention-getter.

A Cubs supporter named Joey donned a gigantic bedazzled World Series ring made of styrofoam on his head while attending Thursday night's clash at Wrigley Field between the Cubs and the San Diego Padres. A perfect replica of the 2016 championship rings that the Cubs received for their World Series title, Joey's ring hat is both gaudy and remarkable.

Interviewed by NBC Sports Chicago's Kelly Crull in the stands, Joey revealed that it took 40 hours to bedazzle the styrofoam ring with decorative diamonds. Although the over-the-top headgear is essentially worthless in value, the sentimentality behind it makes it quite the meaningful piece of Cubs memorabilia.
