Cubs News: La Stella injured during simulated game

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton - Senior Editor -

Cubs starter Yu Darvish pitched a simulated game in Kansas City on Wednesday in front of Joe Maddon, Jim Hickey, and the medical staff.

Tommy La Stella was one of the batters along with catcher Victor Caratini that faced Darvish.

In the second inning of the simulated game, La Stella fouled a pitch off his right leg and received medical attention. He was unable to put pressure on his foot for a few moments before taking off his right shoe.

La Stella eventually walked off on his own power and he is done for the afternoon. He is slated to bat fifth and DH for tonight's 7:15 pm CT start against the Royals so we will see if he will be ready in time or will have to sit.
