Cubs News: Maddon says Baez return could be delayed

by -

Cubs manager Joe Maddon told the beat writers before the Angels game on Thursday evening that infielder Javier Baez may not be ready for the Cubs home stand next week after being hit by a pitch in the helmet.

Baez took a few days off and might need more at-bats before he is ready to rejoin the big league club.

Baez opened the season on the 15-day DL with a left thumb contusion and is eligible to return on April 9.
