Cubs News: Rizzo donates 2.5K to cancer patient to freeze her eggs

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton - Senior Editor -

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is widely regarded as one of the good guys in major league baseball with his various charities and his fun personality on the field and off the field with his popular social media accounts.

26-year old college student Emily Kmiecik was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2013. She had beaten the cancer but it returned last month as she is currently going through chemotherapy waiting for a bone marrow transplant. She started a Gofundme account to raise money to freeze her eggs as she has dreams of starting a family and being a mother one day.

Rizzo heard about her situation and generously donated $2,500 to help with her dream and support her through this very difficult time. This is just another example of Rizzo being a great human being. That's Cub!
