Will the White Sox trade Chris Sale to Cubs? |
ESPN senior writer Buster Olney discussed in his latest column the major players in the possible future trade of White Sox ace Chris Sale.
Olney reports that the Nationals, Cardinals, Dodgers, Rangers, and Astros are all trying to get Sale from the White Sox for a package of players. However, one team that won't be getting Sale is the Cubs according to Olney. "But since this offseason began, perception of the White Sox's intentions has changed," Olney said. "Some evaluators now believe they will move Sale as Chicago begins a major makeover of its 40-man roster. The White Sox have told the Cubs they won't deal with them, but it appears that a handful of teams -- the Dodgers, Cardinals, Rangers, Nationals, and Astros, among others -- have a legitimate shot at landing MLB's second-best left-hander." Sale was 17-10 with 3.34 ERA with 233 strikeouts and 1.04 WHIP this past season. He was 4th in AL in wins (17), 3rd in AL in innings pitched (226.2), 2nd in AL in strikeouts (233), 9th in AL in ERA (3.34), 3rd in AL in WHIP (1.04), and 1st in AL in complete games (6). For his career, he is 74-50 with 3.00 ERA with 1244 strikeouts and 1.06 WHIP. He was drafted with the 13th overall pick in the first round by the Chicago White Sox in 2010.
