Dodgers star shortstop not on NLCS roster |
Big roster news coming out before Saturday night's NLCS matchup with the Cubs and Dodgers as star shortstop Corey Seager of the Dodgers was not included in the NLCS playoff roster.
Charlie Culberson will take Seager's spot at shortstop. This is huge news for the Cubs as he is an excellent overall player and tremendous on defense. Seager has not been participating in team workouts this week with a back injury and also has had a sore elbow that sidelined him the last two weeks in September. The Dodgers are 11-16 without Seager in the lineup this season. He injured his back while sliding into a base in Game 3 of the NLDS against the Arizona Diamondbacks. For the season, Seager is batting .295 with 22 homers, 77 RBI, and .375 on-base percentage. He is a two-time All-Star performer during his short MLB career and won the NL rookie of the year last season. He was drafted with the #18th overall pick in the first round of the 2012 MLB draft.
