David Ross on whether Cubs will play tonight with bad air quality in Chicago

by - Senior Editor -

There are air quality issues in Chicago for tonight's Cubs vs. Phillies game at Wrigley Field at 7:05 pm CT.

The Chicago Department of Public Health released the following statement on the air quality.

"Stay safe, Chicago," the department posted on social media. "Air quality in Chicago is now at an unhealthy level due to wildfire smoke from Canada. Limit your exposure by avoiding strenuous activities and shortening your time outdoors."

Chicago Cubs manager David Ross was asked on 670 The Score on Tuesday if the Cubs game was on tonight.

"I haven't heard anything yet about cancellation, so I would assume we play," he said. "Usually, they put that on my radar pretty early. We are all going as of right now, but we’ll wait to see if things change or what Major League Baseball and the Player’s Association say."

The Commissioner's office and the Players Union are the only ones that can postpone the game tonight if they think it is unsafe for the players, workers, and fans.
