Roster Moves: Cubs option two players to Triple-A Iowa

The Northsiders are putting together their final touches on their Opening Day roster as they prepare for the upcoming 2024 season.

Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell announced on Monday that the team is optioning slugging outfielder Alexander Canario and pitcher Hayden Wesneski to Triple-A Iowa.

Wesneski will be stretched out as a starter in the minors for when they need him.

The last two bench spots go to utility infielders Miles Mastrobuoni and Nick Madrigal.

The final two bullpen spots will go to veteran Jose Cuas and lefty Luke Little.

Other bullpen pitchers that made the team include Adbert Alzolay, Julian Merryweather, Hector Neris, Mark Leiter Jr., Drew Smyly, and Yency Almonte.
